Chicken Marsala is for dinner

Hi everyone, Welcome to Sunday Share day.

Today, I am sharing my recipe for Chicken Marsala. My recipe is not exact as I don't really do too much measuring, mostly I eyeball things. Also, feel free to adjust seasoning and omit and change flavors as you see fit. That's what great about cooking, you can always make changes to suit what you have in your pantry and season it the way that you want.

Ingredients: 4-6 thinly sliced skinless chicken breasts - season with salt & pepper (optional to dredge in flour)
1 shallot or 1/4 of medium onion - minced
1 Cup of chopped mushrooms (white or baby bellas)
1/2 cup of marsala wine (can sub for white wine, riesling, white zin)
1 cup of chicken broth
1-2 tb flour
1 tb butter
olive oil

Brown chicken in olive oil and remove from pan. Cook shallot and onion in pan for 1 minute and then add mushrooms, cook for two minutes and add wine. Cook wine until reduced in half about 5-10 minutes. Add 1/2 of the chicken broth to the pan. Mix the remaining chicken broth with 1-2 tb flour to make a slurry and add to pan. Increase temp to medium high heat for a light boil and add chicken back to the pan. Cook for another 5-10 minutes to ensure chicken is cooked through, turn off heat and add butter and stir until melted. I serve my marsala over mashed potatoes, with a simple side salad. It comes out great every time and you can make substitutions which makes this a great pantry dish as most of us have these ingredients on hand. Thanks for visiting me today.

Discover Dora

Hi everyone, Thanks so much for visiting me today on Scrapbooking Saturday. First, I just love how my layouts came out. I will be placing these with my Project Life which I will be honest and say that I am about 10 weeks behind but I do take some shortcuts which I will show you and I do create more traditional layouts and then put them all in my scrapbook chronologically.

I used the Summer Smooches Designer Paper from Stampin' Up. I love the vibrant colors in this paper, it just pops. I used two different designs in this collection and my photos are matted with Midnight Muse cardstock. My title is cut from Kate's ABC's and I cut out an Everyday Paperdoll dressed like Dora, a tree from Everyday Popups and this cool fence from Winnie the Pooh which I modified a bit. The fence arrow says "Discovery Science" on it which is the kids museum that we went to. It's in Santa Ana California about 15 minutes away from Disneyland so if you visit SoCal this is another place you can go and take your kids.

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Happy Father's Day

Hi everyone. Welcome to Celebrate it Friday. I know that it's after Father's Day but I didn't have a chance to show you all this super cute Father's Day card. The dp used for this card is Baby Jane from Cosmo Cricket, love it! I cut my cow at 3.25, with all of his layers. I created my own sign for him to carry, by just playing with the measurements, it barely fit my SU sentiment from Teeny Tiny Sentiments. I used white ribbon from SU and some white buttons to finish my card off. My cut is from Birthday Bash. This cart is super cute and I most definitely need to use it more often!

The winner of the SEP book is JO! Please email me with your address. I am a little behind in sending prizes but I will be caught up next week!

This week's prize is the Darling Dear 6x6 paper pad by MME. To win, please leave a comment on this post and I will post the winner in two weeks.

 Thanks for visiting.

Beach Book Giveaway

Hi everyone, Today, I am sharing a book that I read recently called The Great Escape by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I got an advance reader's copy of this book when I went to the American Library Association Conference a couple of weeks ago. It's part 6 of her American Lady series which starts with Glitter Baby, Fancy Pants, Lady be Good, First Lady, and Call Me Irresisible. The first two books in this series, I listened on audio and were probably some of the best contemporary romances' I had ever read. Awesome! But usually as a series goes on, they tend to get a little redundant. In The Great Escape, the main character is the adopted daughter of the President and has tried to be perfect her whole life, which includes marrying the perfect man. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she panics before walking down the aisle and runs away and gets on the back of the motorcyle of a complete stranger. While I enjoyed the book, I will admit that it was not her best, most definitely a summer beach book "fluff" for the mind while you're watching the kids playing in the sand or by the pool. I do have my copy of the book to give away. If you would like, leave a comment on this post and if there is more than 1 person who wants it, then I will use random.org for a winner next Friday!

Christmas in July Challenge #2

Hi everyone,

I am sharing a second post today. I made a card for the CardzTV Christmas in July challenge. The challenge was to make a Christmas card using a snowflake or a snowman. Well, I used both! The snowman is from Hello Kitty Greetings. I didn't even know that this cart even had a snowman and I think that he's a super cute one. I also used a snowflake from Paper Trimmings. The card is a tent card and the main base of the card starts out at 4.25 x 4.25 and the propped up piece is 3.5 x 3.5. The dp is from my stash which I why I had to do a tent card because none of my pieces were big enough for an A2 size card.

The sentiment is from the Vintage Picnic sentiment stamp set from Paper Trey ink. I noticed that I didn't have very many snow, or cold weather type sentiments so I used this generic but still apt sentiment. My snowman was embellished with red, orange and diamond stickles and my snowflake has pink stickles and a little bling in the center.

I also put my snowman on an action wobble which you can see that well from the picture but it really made him extra cute! Thanks for looking today and if you have time, maybe make a Christmas in July card!

Whale Meet Again

Today's Celebrate it Friday card is a retirement card. I had quite a few colleagues retire and this was one of the cards that I gave out. The whale is cut at 2.5 from Create a Critter. I had this circle left over from another project so I reused it here. The red cardstock has been cuttlebuged with the swirls folder. I also used SU Marina Mist ribbon and button, did some doodling and used a gem for his eye. The sentiment is from Pink by Design (I think!). It was a simple card but I was super busy when I was making it so sometimes easy is just what's needed!

The winner of my blog hop Father's Day cartridge is BUCHAROO. Congrats, please email me with your address, my email is in my sidebar. I will have a book to give away this weekend so if you like to read, be sure to check back and next week I will have crafty goodness to give away! I've got a super busy weekend ahead of me. I have to finish a wedding scrapbook and go to a bridal shower, Lily has dance class and I've got to get stuff ready for a consignment sale! Have a fun weekend everyone.

I Moose You

Hi everyone, this is my second post of the day, so be sure to scroll down to see my other post. This card was made for a couple of challenges, cardztv - use a tag, pink by design - use a tag, and paperplaytime - create a "miss you" card. So this is what I came up with:

The paper is from October Afternoon - Campfire. My image is cut at 3.5 and is from Campin' Critters Cricut Cartridge. I cut my mat at 3.5 from Elegant Edges and my sentiment is from Woodland Critters from Pink by Design. The tag is cut at .68 and is from the Art Philosophy cartridge. I added two mini brads on the side. Be sure to  watch the video below to see how everything gets put together. Instead of I Miss You, I used the pun "I moose you."

Cherry Much

Hi everyone, welcome to Make it Monday. In this week's video, I will be making a tent card. I begin with a card that is sized at 4.25 x 4.25 and layered a cranberry piece of cardstock at 4.25 x 4.25 and a dp on top of that sized at 4 x 4. My tent piece of cardstock measured at 3.75 x 3.75 and a cherry piece of dp at 3.5 x 3.5. I cut my cherries at 3.0 from the Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge. I also used Pink by Design Country Living stamp set for my sentiment. The video shows the placement of all the pieces.

Easter in July?

Hi everyone, welcome to Scrapbooking Saturday. Today, I am sharing a scrapbooking page that I made to go with my Project Life. I am sort of doing a hybrid Project Life for one thing I cannot remember to take pictures everyday and the other is that I do love traditional scrapbooking layouts so I have opted for a hybrid and a more laid back approach. Today, I am using parts of a pre-made kit that I had purchased before I started my scrapbook addiction. I kept the layout basically the same in terms of how the paper is laid out. I changed the picture layout so that I can fit more pictures. The kit had these thick chipboard letters. I try to keep my layouts flat so that my books can fit more pages so I decided to cut my letters out using the Kate's ABC's cartridge and the shadow feature. I used the cardstock that was left in the kit to cut the letters. I think that it turned out real cute.

I think the message here is to continue to find ways to use your stash and while you may not have the same style anymore, you can sometimes make use of your old products in your new projects.

Thanks for looking today.

21st Birthday

HI everyone. Thanks for joining me on Celebrate it Friday. Today, I am celebrating birthdays. I have made a card much like this before. My step-daughter just turned 21 and as we were planning on taking her to Vegas to celebate, I thought that this cut from the Father's Day cartridge would be perfect. I cut it a couple of times so that I could get the different parts cut with the right colors and I used this absolutely perfect retired SU paper (that I have been using sparingly) for my background. Super easy card but she loved it! She got a little money for her birthday and she has been recycling all year to save up for this trip. Her friends came and I took my sister and cousin and  my parents too. She is 21 afterall and didn't need a chaperone but more like a guide and we are experienced Vegas goers. She ended up having a blast and it was really a fun time.

Edited to add: My blogoversary blog candy goes to Melissa Bove! Melissa please email me with your snail mail so that I can get your prize to you. There will be a special blog candy this weekend!
