Hip to be Square

Today's card is a cute one! It uses MFT's Pure Innocence stamp set Book in Hand. I am a sucker for any stamp set or product that has books or library stuff in it! I pulled out my retired Maine Blueberry DP from SU and also used the paper to paperpiece my sweet girl. The rest of her is colored in with copics. The notebook paper is some retired paper from my stash which I punched holes in to make it look even more like notebook paper. The colors here are olive and not quite navy. The layout is a little funky but I like how it looks here!

Very busy weekend! My mom's birthday was Saturday. She wanted us to make pasta. My sister and I had hosted a pasta party in July and it apparently made an impression. We had butternut squash ravioli, lasagna, tortellini in cream sauce and pasta with pesto. Delicious! My mom also requested that I make my creme brulee. A lot of work but so worth it! My creme brulee has the perfect texture. So yummy. My sister and I are taking her to a cooking class as a birthday present. She was really happy! It's so hard to buy her anything because she has everything!

Hope you are all havinga good day.

Doodle Blog Candy

Last week's blog candy winner is: YVONNE
Please send me your address so that I can mail your prize to you.

This week's prize is this two piece double mounted stamp set, it was part of an SU hostess bundle. To win just leave a comment on this post and I will select a winner next Friday.

I don't think that I mentioned what I did last weekend. My stepdaughter won tickets on Facebook to the Dave Matthews Band concert. They were lawn seats but free. I got to tell you that the lawn is apparently where everyone goes to get drunk and loaded. I seriously ended up with a headache from all of the funny cigarettes people were smoking. The concert was fun but my fanny was killing me sitting on that lawn. I am not in the 20's anymore folks that's for sure. It's wierd because I've seen this band two times before but the last time was in Grad school at UofA in 1997!
Have a good weekend every one!

I need chocolate

Today's card uses the MFT stamp set How Sweet it is. I used some retired DP that was part of a hostess bundle a couple of catalogs ago. I paperpieced the chair and colored in the rest of the images with copics. I tied off everything with olive satin ribbon which has become some of my favorite ribbon. After going back to work, I could really use some chocolate myself!

I also wanted to mention the birthday gift that I bought myself in July but I dont' think that I shared it with you all. It's a Kindle! For some of my readers who have noticed that I am a librarian, it might seem sacreligious to give up dusty old but much revered books especially since I am a keeper of said dusty old but much revered books but I got to tell you I love it. It's light and portable, holds a ton so I save space on storing reading material and it loads books like magic! I am in love!

Have a honey of day!

Today's card uses the Just Buzzin' By stamp set. The bee and pots are colored with copics. I stamped the pots and then cut them out. The dp is retired, I think it's called Manchester. The other colors used are baja breeze and pacific point. I used Pacific Point ribbon and stamped my sentiment in black right on the front of the card.

Back to the grindstone for good now. Too much work to be done! I just got to remembr that I can only do what I can do! Hope you are all having a great day. Don't forget blog candy here.

For You Great Friend

Todays card uses the fabuluous Great Friend stamp set. The dp is retired, I can't recall the name of it. The colors are So Saffron, Basic Grey and Baroque Burgundy. I love the color combo, I hardly ever use these colors but they really look nice together. The So Saffron ribbon is from SAB 2 years ago. I stamped the stems on the main image in So Saffron and the sentiment in Gray. I stamped the butterflies separately in Baroque Burgundy and Pink Pirouette and cut them out and adhered them to my card.

Please email me with your info so that I can mail your prize to you.
This week's prize is this fabulous wood mounted CTMH wood stamp set Happy Birthday. To win just leave a comment on this post and I will post the winner next Friday.

Today's card uses some retired SU paper that uses the colors So Saffron and Burgundy. I used my saleabration so saffron ribbon. The stamp set is Hot Stuff but instead of using the main image I used the coffee cups. The middle cup is paperpieced and the other two are colored in with copics. The sentiment is stamped in Burgundy. I added some brads on the bottom for a little interest. It's nice when a card comes out better than you expected!

Have a great day.

Think Green

I just love the colors in today's card. It uses this new stamp set from MFT Who's That Girl Goes Green. I was so lucky to still have this haiku paper from SU, now retired. The main image is paperpieced and the rest of the image is colored with copics. I also used some retired ribbon from SU.

Today we are heading to a little local waterpark, should be fun. We went to a small zoo today, it was great. They had a small amount of animals, a carousel, a train and a decent playground so the kids had a blast!

Hope the card makes you smile!

Bright true friend

Did I mention that we also went to the Circus? When I got back from SD and checked my email there was a coupon code for half price tix for the Circus for that weekend so I bought tix and we went. The circus was not what I remembered, it was a lot of fluff - but the kids didn't know any better and Ty really had a great time.

Today's card uses an old favorite of mine True Friend. I cased this card from someone on Splitcoast. It uses paper from Sale a bration 2 years ago, still getting milage on that paper. I stamped the flowers with white craft ink on baja breeze, green galore and regal rose and then cut them out. The main true friend image was stamped in regal rose and punched out. I adhered it to the card using dimensionals. I like how this is such a different use of this stamp set. I usually see it used with muted colors.

Today is the last random freebie day. If you would like a freebie from me please leave a comment on this post and then email me with your address. I will send freebies to the first 5 people who comment. You can comment until Sunday.

Sweetest Stem

On our last day in San Diego we planned on going to the zoo but just couldn't face another all day affair with that darn double stroller so we opted for the merry-go-round and the train located at Balboa Park. Agove is me, Tyler and Lily.
Here is my sister, her husband and Tyler on the train. There was a large orange spider in my stepdaughter's seat and she stood up stomping in the middle of the ride in which I had to yell at her to sit down before she fell out.

Here is a pic of the three little cousins. Thank goodness for my Canon Rebel, that camera is the only reason why I was able to even get this shot. They woudn't sit still for nothing.

Another pic taken on the last day. On the way home we stopped by a playgym but we had to leave early because it was overrun with day camper! A fun but super fast trip.

Today's card uses tons of retired product. The base color is regal rose and I used regal rose ribbon and kiwi kiss corduroy button and ribbon. The stamp set is Sweetest Stem and the paper is rasberry tart. I do like these colors together! I have been doing a great job using up my retired papers but I will have to put them away to start using up some paper from last year and then of course the new paper for this year!

Bunches of thanks

Well here is day two of my San Diego trip which was spent at Sea World. Fun but so exhausting. We busted out the double stroller - that sucker is heavy. We went on all of the water rides and only got to see the Shamu show but we got a 2nd day so hopefully we will get to see the dolphin show Blue Horizons when we go back. Above is a pic of Lily giving her daddy some love.
A cute picture of my coconut niece Kayla. That girl is even more active and rambunctious than Tyler.

One of the sharks that we saw, one of the cooler exhibits.

One of the many Shamu's. How do they get those huge creatures to do that?

A family pic with all 5 of us. Sea World was fun and we spent most of the day there but we had absolutely no energy to stay for fireworks! Back to the hotel and bed for us!

Today's card is kind of a wierd looking card in my opinion. Sometimes you take a stamp and try to make it work with certain dp for example and it just doesn't quite come out right. That's kind of what happened here. I used this retired dp from SU that uses summer sun and chocolate. So I decided to color my flopsey and his flowers in the same color. I think that I would've been happier to paperpiece the bunny. Anyway, sometimes you gotta experiment to find out what doesn't work!

Movie Night

Well I finally got some time to talk about my little vacation. The first day in San Diego was pretty relaxed. We visited Coronado Island. Here we are at Hotel Coronada, we rented bikes and rode around. Really fun. The above picture is my sister, brother-in-law, niece and Lily.
We also visited the park at Mission Bay. Here I am with Lily climbing this rope, not as easy as it looks.

Here we are posing in front of the Bay. More pics this week!

Below is the card for the day.
It has been forever since I've been out to the movies. Instead I find myself sitting on the couch watching DVD's. Today's card is a fun use of some popcorn boxes that I had gotten as part of the MFT VIP kit. I cut down the popcorn box and adhered it to my cardstock with my stamped tickets. I stamped the main image on white cardstock cut it out and colored it in with my copics. I am most proud of my brown couch doesn't look like microfiber?

Have a good day.

Felt flower fun

Hi everybody, well it's cooled off a little here, it's actually very nice weather. Today's card uses very little stamping - just the sentiment up in the corner. I cased this from Inking Idaho's site. The vase is made using the ornament punch, I just snipped the bottom to make it more round. The flowers were made using the retired felt flowers from the spring mini. I also used the top note die and paper from the 12x12 paper stack from the same mini. It is so nice to use my stash. I have been stamping like crazy and stockpiling cards so that I have plenty for my blog when school starts. The next year is going to be crazy, my assistant's position was cut so I will be doing extra work and I want to still have things to post. I also want to start up again with my scrapbooking. I have fallen waaaay behind!

Birthday Girl

Todays card uses this Birthday Girl stamp set from MFT and it uses retired Always DP. I paperpieced her dress and presents and colored in the rest of the image with my copics. I also used brown satin ribbon from SU. I really like the colors on this card. I think I'll save it for my sister's birthday.
